Gratitude #111

“New glass in the window, new leaf on a tree…”  Neil Young

Small things make the difference.  When I am in a certain mood, taking everything for granted, it is the small details of life that bring me back to sanity.  Can I really be so grateful for ketchup with fries?  Yes; and also for my bicycle, the cold air blowing  outside, snow back home, healthy parents, a beautiful curly-haired nephew, my black dress shoes, lasagna for lunch, salt and pepper, that I am alive and out of bed and fighting today’s battles as best I can, for my friends, my religious faith, less anxiety and more serenity than I have ever had.  And perhaps most of all that I am not drinking after 20+ years of idiocy.  Good bye and good riddance to all that.  How can I descibe the relief of being free from that prison?  Maybe in another post…
